Here is our Great Gifts Flyer.  We call it great gifts because we focus on stuff that you need.  Of course that’s what Home of Economy does best.

Home of Economy also greatly relies on the winter weather specific merchandise.  We’re from North Dakota so of course we know better than someone in Arkansas.

Note some of the pages had got messed up in the cropping process and I rushed this post so I didn’t catch it.  It’s fixed now.  Sorry about the problem.

Home of Economy’s Guarenteed Lowest Price

image

If you happen to find a lower price at a competitor we’ll match their price.  We will match their price whether or not it’s advertised.  If available bring their ad in with you.

1. The item must be exactly the same item with the same features.  Some of our competitors sell a cut down item that looks just like our full-featured product.

2. The item must be in stock at the competitor.  Some retailers use an item as a loss leader but don’t stock enough to satisfy demand.

3. The competitor must be in our trade area.

4. We will match Internet prices (including shipping).  In nearly all cases we’re already lower-priced than the “discount” on-line retailers.  In the case of an on-line price match print the ordering page with the shipping information, bring it in and leave with the product.  No wait and you get Home of Economy’s great service after the sale.

5. We reserve the right to limit quantities.

6. We do not match competitors’ gimmick sales, free goods, closeout prices, rebates, and financing options.

Home of Economy, your local store for Price, Service, Selection, and Quality.

The above is the rules that we put out explaining the our Guaranteed Lowest Price program.  Basically it’s a price match policy.

We’ve found this to be enormously successful to regain our image as a low priced store.  Many don’t know that Home of Economy was one of the first discounters in the country.  In fact we are THE FIRST store to offer low prices direct to the farmer.  At the time “Fair Trade” laws prohibited a company from offering discount prices.  (Is that crazy or what?)  My grandfather figured out a way to offer fleet discounts to farmers and stay within the law.

Over time we didn’t protect our position in the public’s minds as being a low priced store.  We instituted this program about five years ago to regain it.

Occasionally in meetings we’ll discuss the rare instances where a customer asks for the lower price they can get elsewhere.  Often the customer is mistaken because the items aren’t the same or the competitor is advertising in an unethical manner.  One example of that is when they advertise an item at a very low price knowing they’ll run out of the product.  We all run out of sale items; but we do what we can to minimize that as much as possible.

The other thing we find is that consumers are misled by other retailers asking manufacturers to cheapen their product.  We’ll be selling the product the customers want and look bad when the other guys are offering a similar but inferior product.  This gives us the chance to explain what the differences are in the product and justify the price differential.

The bottom line is that we are happy as heck to deliver the Guaranteed Lowest Price.  We sure don’t want to send OUR customers elsewhere to do their shopping.

That doesn’t mean that we don’t have to check what’s going in the other stores when someone asks.  We have to make sure that we aren’t being taken advantage of.

It’s the Exciting Christmas Gift Guide Flyer

Here is our famous Gift Guide.  My favorite part is that 6 pages of the flyers are reserved for gift ideas.  2 pages go for gifts under $10; 2 more pages are for gifts under $20 and finally 2 for gifts under $50.

We specialize in things you need and speaking of that our strength in cold weather stuff definitely shows in the flyer.  We sell more stuff for winter than we do for Christmas.

We used to try doing door busters and a weekend sale.  We decided that was for the other guys.  Home of Economy is a special store and our customers like it better that we don’t play games with them.

This flyer is good until December 24th at 4 pm when we close.  However quantities are limited so if there’s something that catches your eye it’s best to get here sooner than later.

A Beautiful Amish Crib

image

I was taking a walk through the Amish Gallery today and was really taken aback by this beautiful crib.

Our Amish partners have some great pieces but this is just a WOW!  It’s got to be seen to be believed.  If this isn’t right we do have another crib in stock seen behind here.  But it doesn’t have the sleigh sides.

Check with our sales team in case you need a different finish.  We’re able to do custom orders on most of the furniture we get from them.

This is in stock today in our Amish Furniture Gallery in our Grand Forks, North Dakota store.

The Fantastic Gear Up For Winter Flyer

Here’s the flyer we’ve got going on right now.  This flyer runs until Thanksgiving so we’ve still got a couple weeks to go on this one.

You can see that we’re going big in the winter products.  The problem with winter is that while the business is great, it’s always a guess when it’s going to hit.  Of course it’s better to get your name in the heads of your customers sooner than later.

New Line of HI-Vis Workwear

image

Here’s a great line of HI-Vis winter wear that we just picked up.  This is made up in Canada so they seem to know a bit about cold weather.

As of right now we’re only stocking this line in Williston, Minot and Grand Forks.

Carhartt Flannel Lined Jeans

image

Here’s an interesting display idea implemented by our Minot crew.  One of our biggest denim items is our Carhartt flannel lined jeans.  That surprised me because you have a fairly short selling season and I didn’t think that many people wore them.

Like usual I was wrong.  We’ve been putting them in our advertising flyers, but I don’t think we’ve done a good job on display in the stores.  So we got talking and this is what the Minot crew came up with.

This is a pair of Jeans turned around all the way, inside out.  I think it’s a real eye catcher and this should help us move a good item into the great category.

Kinda dresses like Ben…

You can pick up your flannel lined jeans in all of our stores across North Dakota:  Grand Forks, Grafton, Devils Lake, Jamestown, Minot and Williston.
