This is a great ad. I think it will help us sell a great product. Of course Carhartt’s purpose to this ad was to build their brand awareness. I told them that brand awareness isn’t really a problem in North Dakota.
I just wanted to let people know that Home of Economy sells Uber Gloves. We have been carrying them for some time now and have been a great product for us. Uber gloves is a company that is located out of Owatonna, MN. It is a great local company that have been producing great products since 1904.
The most popular type of mitten from them is the chopper style which are great for their comfort and warmth.
For those that don’t know we have the Amish Furniture Gallery in our Grand Forks, North Dakota store. We’ve had it for about 3 years now and it’s doing fantastic for us. I thought it’d be nice to focus on a few products available in the Amish Furniture Gallery.

Everyone expects our Amish Furniture to be well made, and it is. The finish is unbelievable. But what people don’t expect is the number of options that is available on a piece like this. This island has a beautiful tile top, but you can get it in granite or a number of different finishes. If you have a need to match something bring in a sample and I’m sure you’ll be satisfied with what you get.
And the base can be had in a number of different finishes as well.
Most furniture at our competitors now days is unfortunately made overseas. Because this furniture is made by craftsmen in the United States they can customer build your furniture to fit your need. Try having that done at the chain store down the road.
We have delivery all around including Fargo, Devils Lake and Grafton North Dakota. We deliver into Minnesota as well and we do a lot of business with people from Winnipeg Manitoba. They have another reason to love the Amish Furniture since it’s duty free for them. We will deliver for pickup to our stores in Jamestown, Minot and Williston North Dakota.
We are the largest Amish dealer in the region. We’ve even had people drive all the way from Bismarck to buy our Amish Furniture.

I’m really excited. Late last week we found an Amish buggy for sale close to us. We asked our furniture builder to help us find a buggy to help promote our Amish Furniture Gallery in the Grand Forks Store. They weren’t able to find anything for us in Holmes County Ohio.
I thought about that some and I think I came up with the reason. The Amish have large families. I’m sure that there’s always a family member to pass a buggy down to.
So when I found this buggy we jumped on it right away.
I think this is an excellent item to help us promote the Amish Gallery. There are a lot of people that are hard to reach with advertising now days. They don’t watch the news, don’t read the local paper and maybe listen to satellite radio. There are so many tv channels nowdays that you can’t get everyone.
But this buggy is something that gets noticed. Having it up in front of the store will remind our customers that we have Amish Furniture. People driving by will see it and at least wonder why it’s here.
We plan on using it in parades and maybe seeing if we can park it around town. Of course we’ll need to have some complimenting sign work down to finish telling the story.
The buggy’s came in great shape, except a horse kicked up a rock and chipped the window. Aside from that minor fix I think the buggy is perfect for us.

So we had a bit of luck and got shipped early on our 2010 Fighting Sioux Reebok hockey jerseys. We had ordered them a long time ago, but we thought it’d be another month.
We’ve got quite a few ordered, but you never know what’s going to come from some of these companies. With the extra demand this year there just might be a shortage.

My last post was about the new Carhartt Shop in our Jamestown Store. Well after our first week, and despite the fact that were weren’t set right, we had a 100% sales increase last week.
I think we’ll do better than that once we get into the swing of things.

We’ve got a new Carhartt shop in the Jamestown store. When we bought that store from a friend back in 2006 they had an early Carhartt Shop, but it was in the back and it wasn’t big enough.
Because of that, we think, Carhartt wasn’t selling as spectacularly in Jamestown as it’s selling where we have the big Carhartt shops in Grand Forks, Minot and Williston.
I think the sales are really going to take off for us here. Carhartt is our leading vendor and I think this move up to the front is going to push that store quite a bit.
I haven’t seen it in person yet. I have a trip scheduled for later in the month. But from this picture it looks like the Team down there is doing a great job with it.

Last April we came across an incredible deal on dog beds. In order to take advantage of this we had to pretty much buy a truck load of them.
But the deal was too good to pass up on so we are getting aggressive in moving them out.
